What implants can do
- Replace a single missing tooth without involving the teeth on either side.
- Support a bridge to replace several teeth.
- Hold a denture firmly in place, which many people with a loose lower denture find makes eating easier.
Is it right for me?
Implants need enough healthy bone, healthy gums, and a commitment to cleaning around them. Smoking and some medical conditions make problems more likely. Your dentist will go through all of this, the alternatives (a bridge or a denture), the cost and the timescale, before you decide.
Implants and anxiety
Implant surgery is done under local anaesthetic. If you're anxious about it, sedation is available at Bearsden after an assessment. Tell us at your consultation.
NHS or private?
Dental implants are private treatment. Your dentist will always explain the options and give you a written estimate before treatment starts. How NHS charges and private fees work.
To confirm: Who places implants for Bearsden patients: a clinician at the practice, or the implant surgeons you work with? The current site says you "work closely with some of the most experienced dental implant surgeons in Scotland". We'll name them once you confirm.

We'll tell you at your consultation who will carry out each stage of your treatment, where, and their qualifications.
How long does it take?
There are several stages, with healing time between them, so treatment usually takes a number of months. You'll get a timescale for your own case.
