Meet the Bearsden team

Dr Drew Gibson

Clinical Director, Bearsden & Boclair Dental Care

Drew has owned Bearsden Dental Care since 2010 and Boclair Dental Care since 2016. His special interest is caring for anxious patients, and he holds a postgraduate certificate in dental sedation and pain management from UCL.

He has worked as a trainer for NHS Education for Scotland, training other dentists to provide sedation. He also holds membership by examination of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (MFDS).

His experience covers oral and maxillofacial surgery, special care dentistry, orthodontics, dental implants, facial aesthetics and general practice, and he has completed postgraduate training in orthodontics and implant dentistry.

Drew has sat on the Area Dental Committee and GP Subcommittee for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, and on a Scottish Government working group on the dental care needs of older people. During the pandemic he was a senior clinical decision maker within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Outside dentistry he's a keen runner with a passion for aviation.

Dr Graeme Marshall

Dentist

Graeme has a clinical interest in special needs dentistry, and was one of the first general dental practitioners in Scotland to complete adults with incapacity training. He has also undertaken further study in oral surgery and orthodontics.

Before joining the practice he worked in a busy practice in the east end of Glasgow, and treated patients in community and hospital settings. He supervises newly qualified dentists through NHS Education for Scotland, and sits on the Area Dental Committee and GP Subcommittee for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Graeme grew up locally. He plays football, and has climbed Ben Nevis and walked the West Highland Way.

Dr Mike Kean

Dentist

Mike's main clinical interest is restorative dentistry, in which he holds a postgraduate certificate from the University of Chester. He spent around ten years as a partner in a large general practice in Ayrshire, including digital dentistry.

He has completed postgraduate training in cosmetic tooth alignment and facial aesthetics, and has supervised newly qualified dentists in previous posts.

Outside dentistry Mike is a petrolhead with a passion for cars and motor racing.

Dr Claire O'Keefe

Dentist

Claire has a clinical interest in restorative and children's dentistry, and enjoys all of general dentistry, especially helping patients feel at ease.

Claire is originally from Northern Ireland. Away from the practice she enjoys the gym, reading and the outdoors.

Dr Kalumba Simumba

Dentist

Kalumba has a clinical interest in special needs and children's dentistry, and is the practices' lead for clinical audit.

Kalumba grew up locally. He plays football and is a keen runner.

To confirm: Which practice is Kalumba mainly based at, and on which days?

Dorota (Dee) Kulesza

Dental Hygienist

Dee works closely with the dentists to treat and prevent gum disease. She's particularly interested in helping patients understand their oral health and how to look after it at home, and takes care to make every appointment feel relaxed.

To confirm: Dee's register entry shows registration under s36C of the Dentists Act (2011). Please confirm the qualification and country to show (GDC guidance), and her days at each practice.

Danielle Cook

Practice Manager

Danielle has twenty years' experience as a dental nurse and manages the day-to-day running of both practices. She has completed the ILM Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, and holds Affiliateship of the City & Guilds of London Institute (AfCGI).

To confirm: GDC number 169349 is registered to "Danielle Reilly". Is Cook a married name? Patients checking the register will see Reilly, so we suggest "Danielle Cook (registered as Danielle Reilly)" or updating the register.

Chloe McKelvie

Deputy Practice Manager and Sedation Nurse

Chloe qualified as a dental nurse in 2013 after training with us at Bearsden, and is now Deputy Practice Manager for both practices. She has completed training in Childsmile and in inhalation and intravenous sedation, and is working towards her dental radiography qualification.

To confirm: Chloe is "Sedation Nurse" on the Bearsden site and "Dental Nurse" on the Boclair site. Which title is right at each?

Pamela

Head Dental Nurse and Sedation Nurse

Pamela qualified in 2013. As well as working in surgery, she takes a senior role at reception and is the practices' lead for decontamination. She has completed training in inhalation and intravenous sedation.

Holly

Senior Dental Nurse

Holly trained with us at both practices and qualified in 2022. She works in surgery alongside Drew, and takes a senior role across both sites, helping at reception and with the day-to-day running of the practices.

Rachel previously worked in a large practice in East Renfrewshire, and works in surgery alongside Dr Kalumba Simumba.
